OUR BORDERS [within and without]:

It’s All Artificial

The rise of artificial intelligence and the increasing artificial nature of our lives can be seen in our current modern techno world as it continues to reshape our world. Is it any wonder why God forewarned us about what the end of the age would look like and to be aware of the many deceptions that come with it? We can learn a lot from scripture regarding what is coming upon this whole world – and it isn’t something you want to be here for. Let’s look at what this word ‘artificial’ really means and what God’s Word says about it.

Artificial: (See full definition from Noah Webster 1828 dictionary) as an adjective: 1) Made or contrived in opposition to natural. / 2) Feigned, fictitious, or false; not genuine or natural. / 3) Contrived with skill or art. / 4) Cultivated; not indigenous, such as artificial grasses or as feigned words and speech or images. Including Artificial arguments, invented by the speaker, in distinction from laws, authorities, and the like, which are called inartificial arguments of proofs; artificial lines, on a sector or scale, and even artificial numbers. Synonyms used could include synthetic, fabricated, manufactured, fake, substitute, simulated, and how about this one - Plastic.

With this definition, can we agree that there is a growing artificial, more plastic way of living that is promoted in society? From artificial flavors and colors in our food, affecting people’s health, to artificial social media posts, we see the increasing display of false narratives. And it doesn’t stop there. What about the increase in artificial Christianity? Is your Christian faith one that is just tacked on your sleeve, just going through the motions, all the while becoming more conformed to this world? Or, are you engaging and living life live in Christ Jesus with that newness of life only He can provide. In 2 Corinthians 13:5, we are told to examine ourselves to see whether we are in the faith; test ourselves to see if our faith is genuine.

One may ask, is all this artificiality new to our current age? The answer is N-O, no. Before artificial intelligence expanded as we see it today, we see a pattern of ‘artificial’ ways throughout the history of mankind, revealing humanity’s own ‘art’ of being artificial. ‘Art’ means an expression of human creativity, skills, and imagination. Alone, this isn’t bad. God gifted us these artful expressions, which have brought much beauty and purpose to our lives. It is one way that humans bear God’s image when we know Him and participate with Him purposefully for His good pleasure. However, when ‘art’ turns to a feigned or false lifestyle hoping no one will see behind the mask, displaying the ‘artificial’ outside compared to one’s internal reality, I would say, this false display began with Adam and Eve as outlined in Genesis 3. Today, it seems harder to distinguish the difference between the artificial and the genuine – the lie between the truth.

Remember in Genesis 3:1, the ancient serpent of old used artfully and craftily chosen words to deceive the woman, initiating a shift from true life to one of artificiality. If you recall, this serpent initiated the conversation with the woman by saying, “Has God really said, ‘you must not eat from any tree in the garden?’ ” This deception led the woman to eat from the forbidden tree and then give it to her husband, who chose to disobey God by listening to her instead, moving mankind from life to death – real relational life with their Creator to an artificial life hounded by death nipping at their heels.

Throughout the Bible, humans are witnessed creating ‘artificial objects’ to worship – idolatry is the right word to describe this. They replaced the true worship of the One, the Only Living God who created them, with artificial gods that could not help or save them. We see at the Tower of Babel, men not obeying God, but creating a Tower to make a ‘name for themselves’. Later, we see much of Israel’s own worship becoming more of a religious act based on tradition rather than a heartfelt worship of Adonai Yahweh [LORD God]. Because of this, Yahweh says in Isaiah 1:11, “What good to Me is your multitude of sacrifices? I am full from the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed cattle; I take no delight in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.” Why did God tell them this? It had become artificial. Isaiah 29:13 warned them then and us now, “These people draw near to Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. Their worship of Me is but rules taught by men.” Jesus quotes this in Matthew 15:7-9. And in Hosea 6:6 God explains, “For I desire lovingkindness, not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.”

In Ecclesiastes 1:9, it is written, “That which has been is that which will be. That which is done is what will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun”. Ponder this verse and consider what in our lifetime has contributed to humanity’s artificial world. What are the steps that got us to this current heightened state of falsehoods?

Nothing new under the sun!

Refer to the chart to see how the inventions of radio, television, and computers have reshaped our lives through their impact. Consider how many images are flashed before our eyes. We can’t overlook the influence of music and its many ungodly lyrics either. They have barraged our minds with ungodly messages, icons that we have idolized, and even many worship songs within the church today are more self-focused than God-focused praise and adoration.

God said we should guard our hearts, but we haven’t done a good job of that when we begin idolizing all the images and lifestyles and worldly pleasures being paraded in front of us daily. Looking back, we can also see artfully crafted predictive programming preparing us for what is happening today, along with a decrease in the use of our minds – our critical thinking skills. We have become those being entertained, our minds have been slowly brainwashed, and the hearts of many have grown colder and more feigned with each new generation. For a good ‘picture’ of this effect on our minds, check out this commercial from Hulu with Actor Alec Baldwin: Hulu - Alec in Huluwood (2009, USA). Let me know if you can recognize some hidden truths in this commercial.

So now, here we are at the end of the age, and it will be the end of humanity too, unless God steps in. And, I can guarantee you, He will step in. There is nothing new under the sun, remember? God stepped in long ago when people built the Tower of Babel in the land of Shinar. He confused their language, causing them to form different groups of people based on language, scattering them across the earth. And so, He will again, with this new Tower of Babel, the rising Babylon in our world. However, this time it will be for the final testing of mankind.

This artificial lifestyle has led many to emptiness, hopelessness, and uselessness. Those who do not believe in Christ and even those who are professing believers seem desperate to look to someone or something to fix it all, rather than turning to God. We have somewhere, as a church, stepped over a line. I’m grieved to see more Christians engaging with and using a.i. rather than engaging with the Word and allowing the Holy Spirit to direct their steps. This is a warning to me, just as it is to all of us, to turn around, wake up, and get back to the heart of God through that which He has given us. For me, I can hardly stand going on YouTube anymore without seeing professing Christians chatting with ChatGPT, hearing of churches using a.i. not just as a tool, but for their marketing, their sermon layouts, many even caving to having a.i. write their sermons to ensure it will ‘resonate’ with the people. We are replacing God and His Holy Spirit. We are throwing away our purpose. This seems to be a rising trend with the last check over 91% of churches jumping on the a.i. bandwagon.

We all have to use a.i. in many ways today, even if not actively doing so. It has been set up in such a way that, unless you completely go ‘off-grid,’ you and I are using a.i. But stop and think. We are seeing a growing trend of children turning to a.i. for friendship; teenagers and even adults using a.i. chatbots for companionship, for counseling, becoming emotionally dependent, and more confused through it? When we see a.i. producing several variations of a.i. Jesus” [antiJesus], it should be alarming. Then we see a.i. depicting biblical accounts in movie shorts, but how accurate are they? It, a.i., has proven to be deceptive in keeping to the truth of the scriptures.

Is there any hope? Yes, there is. Instead of turning to a.i. to solve your problems, seeking advice, doing your homework, writing a novel, or crafting a sermon or a Bible teaching – turn to God and reject the a.i. deception. We have got to get back to the heart of God, and I am the first in line to ask Him, “Search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts [anxieties] and see if there be any idol [offense] in me, and lead me in the Way everlasting.” [Psalm 139:23-24]

We are living in an age of deception that is growing at a fast pace. Please refer to the numerous resources listed here with related content and ask God where, when, and how you are to navigate in this very seducing period of ‘artificial intelligence,’ because indeed – IT’S ALL ARTIFICIAL; cleverly crafted by men with the devil in the details. Satan can only mimic and twist what God does and what God has and is still speaking to us. This is why it is necessary to walk closely with God our Creator – He is much more majestic and capable than this new little god of the age. Choose the Original, not the artificial! That is my sincere prayer for those in our world today.

I will close with Revelation 22:20: He who testified to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! Maranatha! He is the only ONE WORTHY!

PROPHECY IN DAILY HEADLINES:

We are living times where anything and everything is fulfilling or laying the foundations of the fulfillment of the end-of-the-age prophecies given to us to watch for. The convergence and the speed at which it is all happening sometimes make it feel somewhat surreal. Let’s educate on how some deceptions continue growing. A recent report shows how there is deep connections of American tech companies with China and how we are seeing a power shift from governments to corporate leaders who seem to be embedded in everything and everywhere. COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT...

Lawlessness Abounding: I would be remiss if I did not comment on the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk, whom I was familiar with, though I did not really follow or agree with some of his ideas about geopolitics. However, it is clear to me that he had a strong call of God on his life to minister to young people in a powerful way with a clear message to get back to the truth of Christian living and always pointed to faith in Christ Jesus. The geopolitical, MAGA, aspect of his work also seemed to have an impact on people in this country. I am not a political person, though I am a watcher as it relates to prophecy. But I believe some individuals are specifically called into the political arena for God’s purposes. And though I am not one, my call is different; I believe that Charlie heard those words from our Savior, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” I also know that God is sovereign, and God knew this was going to happen before it happened. God is all-knowing from the beginning to the end, so this did not catch Him off guard. What followed his death was another tragically telling scene that unfolded. On one side, I saw how brutally true Jesus’ words in Matthew 24:12 are for us today. Jesus said, “Because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” And we see that all over our world today. But those outright applauding such a tragic event to a young father and a husband astounded me. On the other hand, I saw many people so distraught that it seemed their hope was shattered. Coincidence? I think not!

May I gently suggest that this indicates too many are placing their hope and trust in the wrong place, which is also reflective of our times. God says in Psalm 146:3, “Do not put your trust in rulers, or in a son of man [mere human], in whom there is no salvation [deliverance or victory].” And though, yes, I can see why Charlie is called a martyr, let us not forget the millions of others who may not have been in the public spotlight like Charlie was, who have been martyred for their faith in Christ. This not only happens in our country, but to millions of our brothers and sisters around the globe for their faith in Christ. Let’s pray for the people and for Charlie’s family, but be careful not to elevate a man nor even a nation above the One who holds them all in His hands. Put your eyes, faith, and full trust in God. Things are not falling apart; they are falling into place as He has said they would to fulfill His ultimate plan, which is to usher in that final kingdom where there will be no more death, tears, or pain. Trust Him – He is the only One Larger Than Life – He is the Giver of Life!

SILVER LINING

The Word of God is life!

Your Mind & Heart Can Be Renewed!  If you feel overwhelmed with all that is happening in our world, may this encourage you because there is hope. In the past, I washed my mind with the artificial world and its endless entertainment. I found the programs and the never-ending messages more entertaining than the message of God given. But with God, there is hope, because He can renew our minds and hearts. That’s exactly what He did for me many years ago. From couch potato and blank mind, I have been renewed. How? The washing of the water of the Word of God, for indeed it is Alive and Active because the Word of God [Jesus], is seated at the right hand of God. He is in His heavenly spiritual realm, but you can’t separate the spiritual from the physical Word written. The Spirit of God breathes new life into us through His Word as we get to know who He really is. I thought I knew Him, but I didn’t. I know Him now and realize I have only scratched the surface of what all there is to know about Him. And it is a daily newness and discovery with Him. He is the only one who renews our hearts and minds. It is written in Psalm 14:2, “Yahweh looks down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if any understand, if any seek God.” In Titus 3:5 it is written, “He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of, regeneration, and renewal of the Holy Spirit”. Ephesians 5:26 reads, “That he might sanctify her [the church], having cleansed her by the washing of the water with the Word. The Word of God is powerful. I am a living testimony of this, and if He can do it for me, I assure you, He can and will do it for you, beloved.
